Hotlink

A hotlink, also known as inline linking or direct linking, is when a website directly links to a file (such as an image, video, or document) hosted on another server. This practice allows the file to be displayed or accessed from the linking website without having to host the file on its own server. While hotlinking can be convenient for the site that uses it, it can use bandwidth from the host server without providing any traffic or credit to the source site, which can lead to copyright issues or strain on the host server's resources. Due to these reasons, hotlinking is often discouraged or blocked by content owners.
